The latest Fort Worth Public Art installation, SkyLight utilizes a series of translucent fins along the railings of two bridges to lead motorists along the boulevard, turning artistic expression into a landmark.
Located at Polaris Drive and Painted Horse Drive in north Fort Worth, the colorful design incorporates seven rich hues inspired by the Texas skies.
The artwork was funded by the City of Fort Worth’s 2018 Bond Program.
Totaling 137 fins across approximately 500 feet of Meacham Boulevard, the work graduates and blends through the hues of dawn and dusk along the length of each bridge. At the center of the crossings, the vibrant greenish blue identifies the water below, celebrating the natural landscape. The translucent material quality and colors of the fins respond to changes in light and viewing angle, maximizing the amount of sun they catch and their visibility along the roadway.
