Masterpieces for miles: The city’s hidden exhibit

“Like a confluence of the Trinity’s forks, Fort Worth flows with cowboy heritage and pulses with a heart for art. That’s readily apparent in our big-name museums, like the Kimbell, the Modern and the Amon Carter, which hold world-class pieces and worldwide prestige. Smaller galleries featuring local artists dot other spots — Historic Handley, Near Southside and Sundance Square, to name a few.

But then there’s also a one-of-a-kind collection sprinkled across a large swath of the city that numbers over 370 individual pieces — more than 160 projects in all. It’s eye-catching and impressive, eclectic, unconventional, bold, brash and in-your-face — and you’ve likely walked or driven by without even realizing.

Some might say it’s hidden in plain sight. “
