Arts Fort Worth is proud to partner with Artes de la Rosa and Near Southside Arts to bring back Art Aid! Together, these three organizations are offering opportunities for artists, creatives, and arts nonprofits to explore and grow their professional practice and sustain a living in the arts. 

Formerly a full-day event, the new iteration of Art Aid is a monthly series of demonstrations and seminars geared towards artists, art nonprofits, and other creative professionals, highlighting the diverse support services available in our community. Taking place every first Tuesday of the month, each session will feature organizations and professionals who will share their expertise and help you navigate the business of making art. 

Tickets are $6 per person. Light refreshments will be available. If the ticket price is a barrier to your attendance, or if you have any other questions, please reach out to us at

Trademarks, Licensing, and Contract Negotiation Best Practices

This Art Aid session was led by Tim Ackermann, Patent & Trademark Attorney from The Ackermann Law Firm. Tim has practiced patent, trademark, and copyright law since 1997. He currently focuses on getting trademarks registered, managing trademark portfolios, and resolving trademark disputes, as well as getting patents and copyright registrations issued. In the past, he largely handled federal court patent and trademark lawsuits. 

After graduating from UT Austin with a Mechanical Engineering degree, he served in the Navy for four years including several years in Yokosuka, Japan. After the Navy, he returned to Austin to attend law school at UT and has practiced in the Metroplex since 1999. He now lives in Grapevine with his wife, Laurie, and their three girls. Tim has been a member of Near Southside, Inc. since 2015 and is a tried and true friend of the district and all Near Southside's cultural and redevelopment efforts.

Does writing an artist statement, exhibition proposal, or CV feel daunting? Are you unsure where to start or what to include? Art Aid is here for you! We've heard time and time again that artists and creatives feel overwhelmed when it is time to put pen to paper (or cursor to screen) and intuitive actions now need a black and white explanation. Three professionals will host a panel discussion and walk you through the nuts and bolts of writing for your professional practice and what curators, jurors, and audiences are looking for.
