New public art projects are on the way to visually enhance communities in Fort Worth.
Council members approved $189,141 in commission contracts for the creation of two art installations in the southeast and far north regions of the city during their March 31 meeting. The dollars will go toward “the fabrication, delivery, installation, and contingencies” of the works, according to city documents.
The artworks are funded through voter-approved bond programs. The city typically sets aside 2% of bond money for public art. Fort Worth policy requires new infrastructure, such as parks and community centers, to include aesthetic elements.
The projects will be overseen by Fort Worth Public Art, a program managed by Arts Fort Worth and advised by the Fort Worth Art Commission.
Community members can share feedback or hear updates on specific projects at the advisory board’s monthly meetings.
