This body of work deals with my personal documentation of my family that I’ve curated through paintings , and video. Depicting the mothers in my life that I’ve seen in my daily routine in their own domestic interiors, paying homage towards their own work of keeping family together.
Artist Bio
Enrique Nevarez is a contemporary painter who works in Fort Worth, Texas. Raised in a matriarch environment , his work pays homage to his family and legacy. His craft material challenges the stereotypes of traditional usages in fine art, evoking a sense of nostalgia from school projects and crafts done at home. His use of glitter invites the viewer to see through a fantastical lens of celebration within his compositions. Gestures and poses are carefully considered coming from a male gaze, opening up the pathway for advocating more intellectual conversation in portrayal of women in art.
